Registration is about to open for the 2026 Nexperia Shanghai Elite 10K Race, an IAAF gold label road race event under the Shanghai Marathon series.
First held in 2016, the Shanghai Elite 10K Race is China's first city‑named 10‑kilometer road race.
The race will start at 7am on October 25 in Putuo District. A total of 5,000 runners will take to the streets along the Suzhou Creek waterfront. The course begins on Guangfu Rd W., winding through Zhenguang Road, Yunling Rd E., Daduhe Road and Zhenbei Road, and finishes at Yunling Rd E., inside Half-Marathon Suhe Park. The flat, well‑tested route offers runners favorable conditions for personal best performances.
Organizers define "elite" not only for podium finishers, but for every runner who trains diligently and strives to improve personal performance.
Runners will receive a full set of race perks. The competition T‑shirt features a water‑blue tone inspired by Brooks' elite marathon athlete apparel, echoing the waterside scenery along Suzhou Creek. A black‑and‑white checkered race bag is also provided. Designed for multi‑scene use, the bag works for both race day and everyday commuting.
Top finishers will earn direct entry to the 2027 Shanghai Half‑Marathon. The top 200 male runners and top 100 female runners will secure guaranteed race spots.
Registration opens at 3pm on September 8 and closes at 5pm on September 11. Participants can sign up via the official Shanghai Marathon website, www.shang‑ma.com, or the Shanghai Marathon mobile app.
Lottery results will be released at 3pm on September 18. Successful applicants must complete payment between the result release and noon September 22. Failure to pay on time will result in forfeited entry, with no alternative ways to obtain a race spot.
The event is part of the Shanghai Marathon series, drawing thousands of recreational and competitive runners to the Suzhou Creek corridor in Putuo.
