Putuo expands pickup sites for Half-Marathon Suhe tourism card, offering wide consumer perks

August 31, 2026 |

Putuo District has significantly expanded pickup locations for its popular Half-Marathon Suhe cultural and tourism card, allowing visitors and local residents to claim the pass at more museums, cultural venues, art spaces and tourist service centers across the district.

Launched as a key initiative of the 6th Half-Marathon Suhe Cultural and Tourism Festival, the card previously was available only at the Shanghai History Museum and Shanghai Yuan Dynasty Water Gate Museum. The newly expanded network covers a dozen additional venues, enabling the public to receive the card simply by visiting exhibitions and cultural sites.

More than 5,000 cards have been distributed so far. The pass grants exclusive benefits at nearly 200 partner merchants covering 12 major business zones and 12 hotels in Putuo. Discount offers include reduced gold prices, up to 20 percent off dining bills, and a 50-percent discount for the Global Harbor Sightseeing Deck on the 52nd floor. Visitors can access the 3A-level scenic observation platform for only 34 yuan (US$5) to enjoy panoramic skyline views of Shanghai and the Huangpu River.

Local residents have praised the practical benefits. Dong Hongjie, a Shanghai resident, saved nearly 200 yuan after receiving a 12-percent discount on a family dinner at a hotpot restaurant in Changfeng Joy City.

"Unlike limited-use coupons, the card provides straightforward storewide discounts, making daily consumption much more cost-effective," Dong said.

In a new waterfront upgrade, the tourism card is now available aboard Suzhou Creek cruise ships. A special surprise maiden voyage departed from Changhua Road Pier on August 22, distributing free cards to all passengers while cruising along the creek. Passengers enjoy river scenery including the Tian'an 1000 Trees‌ complex during the ride and redeem merchant discounts immediately after docking. Additional surprise cruises will operate on weekends on a flexible schedule, updated via the official "Suzhou Creek Tourism" mini-program.
