The 2026 Putuo District Innovation and Entrepreneurship Event has kicked off, drawing nearly 400 registered projects to date, with over one-third of the participating teams and individuals having overseas experience.
The event features two major municipal-level benchmark competitions – the Global Talents Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition and the Startup in Shanghai International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. Roadshow reviews for more than 170 projects from the two contests are currently underway.
At the launch event, the Putuo District Talent Work Bureau and the District Science and Technology Commission presented the district’s new talent policies and the “Seed Plan” for science and technology innovation, while financial institutions introduced tailored financing solutions for tech talent and enterprises.
In addition, Putuo District is also hosting the “Global Talents” competition’s sub-events along the Shanghai–Nanjing (Suzhou) belt, as well as overseas editions in Germany and Singapore. Across all competition zones, more than 700 high-level talent projects have been solicited so far.
In the future, Putuo will continue to expand its domestic and international talent recruitment networks, leveraging cooperation channels such as the Singapore overseas talent workstation, Tsinghua International Innovation Center, and innovation circles around East China Normal University and Tongji University’s Putuo campus. The district will provide comprehensive support in project incubation, commercialization, and funding to attract more outstanding talent.
