From May 23 to 31, a science carnival combining cutting‑edge technology with interactive fun will take place in Putuo District to celebrate the 2026 Shanghai Science Festival.
The highlight of the series is the Science and Innovation Fair, which opens on May 24 at the first‑floor plaza of Zhenru UniPark MAX. The fair features artificial intelligence, smart health, life sciences, and green & low‑carbon, showcasing Putuo‑based enterprises’ latest advances in intelligent robotics, health monitoring devices, modern agricultural technology, and more.
Among the exhibitors, MeetaVista will present a naked‑eye 3D embodied AI digital human. The Shanghai Robotics Industry Technology Research Institute will bring a fire‑fighting inspection robot that relies on autonomous navigation, integrates intelligent identification, fire suppression, and is capable of round‑the‑clock automated patrols. Meanwhile, the Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry will display clinical diagnostic kits based on domestically developed raw materials, as well as a series of ultra‑high molecular weight polyethylene products. Visitors can pull and tug the material to experience its thin yet unbreakable toughness.
On May 24, Professor Wu Yuren, better known to millions of online followers as “Granny Wu of No‑homework Physics,” will visit the Putuo Youth Water-themed Science Education Base. Using educational panels, model exhibits, and robot demonstrations, she will guide children through angular momentum conservation experiments, making complex scientific principles accessible through playful interaction.
Throughout the science week, 30 science bases, research institutes, enterprises, and subdistricts and towns in Putuo will jointly host nearly 50 engaging science activities. Changfeng Ocean World and Legoland Discovery Center are also offering half‑price admission tickets to celebrate the occasion.
