Two companies located in Putuo District — Konecranes (Shanghai) Co Ltd and Rituals Cosmetics (Shanghai) Co Ltd — have been recognized as regional headquarters of multinational corporations.
Konecranes Shanghai is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Finland-based Konecranes Group, a global leader in lifting equipment. Since establishing its presence in Putuo's Taopu area in 2001, the company has been deeply engaged in the manufacturing and maintenance of lifting equipment.
Through its two main business segments — industrial equipment and industrial services — it provides high-quality products and professional services to customers across Northeast Asia. Currently, the company operates eight major offices, 50 service outlets, and three production bases across China.
Rituals Shanghai was wholly founded by the well-known Dutch cosmetics brand Rituals, which focuses on body care and home fragrance products. After setting up in Putuo's Zhenru area in 2019, the company rapidly expanded its market presence and opened its first mainland store in Shanghai. It now operates 16 standalone stores along with multiple counters in department stores.
As the Greater China regional headquarters, it will take on core functions such as investment decision-making and supply chain management. The company also plans to open additional stores in domestic cities, aiming to build a key strategic center for the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
To date, Putuo District is now home to 45 regional headquarters of multinational corporations.
