More than 20 selected projects from around the world in the field of embodied artificial intelligence, spanning industrial manufacturing, healthcare and wellness, and commercial retail, were recently showcased in Putuo.
At the Putuo Innovation Resource Matching Conference and the InnoMatch Technology Broker Salon, over 60 senior technology brokers from the Shanghai-Nanjing region connected with enterprises, research institutions, and platforms specializing in embodied AI from both China and abroad, opening channels for cross-regional and cross-sector collaboration.
During the salon, multiple companies shared their projects and needs across various dimensions, including an acupuncture robot seeking smart healthcare application scenarios, demands for industrial control security systems, and market needs for robotics in new retail and catering industries.
The Shanghai Municipal Government issued the Implementation Plan for the Development of Shanghai’s Embodied Artificial Intelligence Industry recently, which specifically highlights the need to build distinctive industrial clusters, strengthen coordinated industrial layout, and support the clustered and synergistic development of innovative enterprises, aiming to create an integrated embodied robotics industrial cluster encompassing R&D, manufacturing, and services.
Putuo District possesses unique advantages in building these specialized industrial clusters. The Shanghai Robot Industrial Technology Research Institute, located in the district, has connected over 60 percent of upstream and downstream enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta's robotics industry by establishing standardized datasets and a CR certification system for robotics and embodied AI. It has become a key hub for regional technology implementation and industrial collaboration. The institute is currently focusing on advancing three major application scenarios, namely embodied AI + industrial manufacturing, embodied AI + healthcare and wellness, and embodied AI + commercial retail.
In 2025, Putuo will also establish the Shanghai-Nanjing Embodied AI Enterprise Alliance and release the Putuo District Embodied AI Industry Development White Paper.
