Hero Pen launches new collection, celebrating tradition and heritage

June 30, 2025 |

Born in 1931, the esteemed national fountain pen brand Hero has recently launched a series of products that incorporate traditional Chinese motifs in their design and materials. Choose your favorite pen today!

The designer captures the auspicious imagery of a snake entwined with a peony. The soft ivory barrel features a golden snake winding through blooming peonies, with graceful and elegant lines. The pen cap is engraved with a snake motif and inscribed with an auspicious Chinese phrase, seamlessly incorporating the classic Hero plum blossom logo. The nib is meticulously hand-polished, offering a smooth and fluid writing experience.

The pen cap features intricate etched relief and palladium plating, depicting the lively scene of a snake playing with a peony, symbolizing "snake brings fortune, wealth opens doors." The barrel replicates the layered patterns of snake scales, with the tail adorned with traditional Chinese auspicious motifs. The gift box is thoughtfully designed with an upper flip lid and lower drawer, containing a Year of the Snake-themed notebook, a certificate of authenticity, special ink, and a leather pen case.

A masterpiece in red, this pen and notebook set uses the gold stamping technique inspired by the Shikumen architecture of the Memorial of the First CPC National Congress. The design blends the logos of Hero and the cultural and creative store of the memorial, complemented by gold deco on the pen cap and ink labels. The collaboration combines historical depth, artistic value, and practical function, contributing to the preservation of the nation's revolutionary memories and red legacy.

This series includes four pens inspired by the iconic Customs House on the Bund. The pen cap is topped with a blue octagonal glass bead, representing the octagonal caisson ceiling in the customs house entrance hall, formed by eight maritime mural panels. The barrel features a red-brown wood grain design, replicating the texture of the customs house doors. The Roman numerals at the pen's end and the clock scale on the clip pay tribute to the building's iconic clock tower.

This pen is a collaboration between the art brand Zhu Bingren Copper and Hero Group. Each party showcases its expertise, with the former incorporating intricate copper sculpting techniques into the pen body and the latter contributing its core nib-making know-how. The pen holder is the legendary hero Sun Wukong, one of the main characters in the Chinese classic Journey to the West, balancing firm armor with flowing lines and reflecting the Eastern philosophy of combining strength and gentleness.

Ninety years ago, the Red Army maneuvered through Gulin county by the Chishui River, ultimately breaking through enemy lines. In celebration of the 90th anniversary of the battle, Hero Group and Gulin county in Sichuan province have jointly launched this commemorative pen. The pen is modeled after Hero's classic "Belt and Road" 18K gold pen design. Its body uses laser engraving to create a textured feel and electroplate polishing to add a touch of elegance. Inspired by Gulin's renowned Langjiu liquor, which features the Blue Flower Langjiu and Red Flower Langjiu versions, the pen is similarly offered in two colors: blue and red.

Note: Among the new pen series, the Battle of Chishui River commemorative pen is only available locally in Gulin county. Other series are available in Putuo district.
