Suzhou Creek cruises launch festive new year voyages with unique themes

January 27, 2025 |

The Suzhou Creek Cruise at Changfeng Park Wharf in Putuo District introduces new themed cruises featuring “blind boxes,” magic shows, and pet-friendly New Year voyages as the Lunar New Year approaches.

Despite being a weekday on January 23, these activities attracted students and elderly visitors.

Duan, a high school student from east Anhui Province who has decided to spend the Chinese New Year in Shanghai, shared his excitement about the river cruise.

“It is the first time I took a river cruise in Shanghai,” said Duan. “I enjoy both the modern and traditional vibes of the city from the water.”

The cruise line has launched its first New Year-themed “Blind Box” voyage. This 90-minute journey is the longest offered by Suzhou Creek Cruises, starting at Changfeng Park Wharf and ending at the Bund Wharf.

Passengers have the chance to win lucky blind box prizes, including tickets for specific sailings, creative souvenirs like “snake” belts, mouse pads and pencil cases.

According to Jiushi Tourism, Suzhou Creek Cruises will operate over 350 sailings during the Spring Festival. From the first to the sixth day of the Chinese New Year, they will offer 12 themed voyages, including performance cruises and pet-friendly cruises.

The performance cruises will feature close-up magic, Shanghai-style stand-up comedy, and musical performances with instruments like bamboo flutes and accordions.

The pet-friendly cruise will debut on the “Starlit River” ship and include a new Bund Source loop, allowing pet owners to enjoy the festivities with their pets.

Tickets for these special New Year cruises are available through the “Suzhou Creek Tourism 悠游苏州河” mini-program on WeChat.

A friendly reminder: Pets on the pet-friendly cruise must wear booties and diapers provided by their owners.
