Wuning Park of Putuo District reopened to the public on January 20 after a year of renovations, and is now operating 24 hours round the clock.
At 170 Zhongning Road, the park is bordered by Wuning Road to the south, Zhongning Road to the north, a planned road to the east, and Jingning Road to the west, with Shiquan Road dividing it into north and south sections.
The park covers an area of 49,634 square meters.
Wuning Park began construction for the first time in late 2005 and opened to the public in April 2010. However, it closed in 2016 due to major construction projects like Metro Line 14 and the Wuning Expressway, which significantly altered its landscape.
In 2023, with the completion of these projects, the Putuo District Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau undertook renovations to restore the park’s functions.
Strategically, Wuning Park is the starting point of the Zhenru Green Corridor, which spans 6 kilometers across the Zhenru area, connecting fragmented areas through a linear ecological corridor and incorporating Wuning Park, Zhenru Park, Taoxi Park, and other sections.
The park is intended to be friendly to people of all ages, and features colorful hydrangeas across spring, summer and autumn. An underground parking garage of 13,000 square meters provides additional services for visitors.
The redesigned Wuning Park is divided into five zones with logical pathways, offering a rich experience for visitors.
The park’s water system is not connected to natural waters. To solve the problem, it includes a rain garden, permeable pathways, and ecological grass ditches to collect and purify rainwater, so as to integrate it into a sponge water system for reuse.
With its reopening, Wuning Park becomes the 20th city park in Putuo District to be open 24 hours a day.
