The star penguins at Changfeng Ocean World in Putuo District moved into their new home—Boulder Beach at the weekend.
"3, 2, 1, move in!" With the loud announcement from the staff, the mysterious Boulder Beach and 14 African penguins made their debut in their new home. These penguins have black feathers on their backs, white on their chests and bellies, with some black spots and streaks, and thick, sturdy beaks.
According to the staff, this species loves swimming with averaging speeds of 7 km/h and reaching up to 20 km/h, making them little stars at Changfeng Ocean World.
Boulder Beach offers the penguins a more spacious, natural environment closer to their native habitat. The exhibit pool features exotic islands throughout, with a connected transparent tunnel allowing children to enjoy a 360-degree view of the penguins up close.
The newly upgraded penguin home not only has a larger area but also more entertainment facilities. For example, by pressing a button, visitors can experience different simulated weather conditions, like the excitement of wind and rain. Additionally, there are special joystick-controlled screens that let children adjust the view to enjoy immersive interactions with the penguins in their natural setting.
From January 10 to 28, elementary school students can enjoy a half-price discount with their student ID.
