The 39th New Year Run in Putuo District kicked off at Half Marathon Suzhou Creek Park on January 1. This event continued the combination of "cycling + fun run," featuring an 8.8km cycling group and a “1km warm-up run + 15km cycling” group.

The finish line for the cycling event was set at Putuo's new commercial landmark, Xibu-Tongyili. This project blends historical and modern elements, combining trendy commerce, cultural arts, and the fashion industry, aiming to create a 24-hour urban renewal complex.

The event also announced the 2025 "Half Marathon Suzhou Creek" series of events, including the Half Marathon Suzhou Creek Water Festival, Suzhou Creek Fashion Cycling Festival, Suzhou Creek Urban Rowing Elite Race, 10km Elite Race, Suzhou Creek Half Marathon, Suzhou Creek Dragon Boat Race, and Half Marathon Suzhou Creek Sports Lifestyle Festival.

Putuo District aims to build a world-class waterfront area along the Suzhou Creek, using water-based projects to attract people and stimulate the economic vitality of the riverfront.
