As summer draws to a close, the Putuo Culture and Tourism Bureau has planned a night city walk route that combines both exercise and leisure.
Enjoy the cool evening breeze on a 4-kilometer journey that takes about one hour to walk. The route includes Changfeng Park, Gubei Road Bridge, Half-Marathon Suzhou Creek Park and the Middle Ring Road Overpass.
At night, Changfeng Park is brilliantly lit, its lights reflecting off the Suzhou Creek and the city’s lights, creating a dazzling display. As a large park in Putuo District, its design cleverly incorporates the charm of Suzhou gardens. The vastness of Yinchu Lake and the prominence of Tiebi Hill complement each other, forming a unique landscape.
After leaving Changfeng Park, head south along Daduhe Road for a few hundred meters and ascend the pedestrian steps of the Gubei Road Bridge. As the bridge with the largest span over the Suzhou Creek, it offers an unrivaled view of both riverbanks, making it an excellent choice for night scene viewing.
Descending from Gubei Road Bridge, to the east is Half-Marathon Suzhou Creek Park, where you can immediately see the building of the Putuo District Youth Education Activity Center (formerly the site of the Shanghai Match Factory). The main building, resembling a matchbox, is very distinctive. As dusk falls and soft lights gently scatter, the historical building becomes even more charming.
Continuing west along Suzhou Creek, you will reach the Middle Ring Road Overpass. Under the bridge, you’ll find many surprises, including a tennis hall, basketball hall and roller skating hall. These diverse sports spaces are neatly arranged, waiting for you to explore and discover.
