'Plum-Flavored Summer' workshop invites public to make their own plum wine

In the height of summer, community complex Hongshoufang, in collaboration with Jiangnan Rice Brewing Shop, launched the "Plum-Flavored Summer" plum wine workshop experience activity, inviting the public to delve into the traditional art of brewing with green plums.

Stepping into the plum wine workshop, the aroma of green plums is overwhelming, and the enthusiastic visitors are eager to participate. 

Making plum wine is not difficult. You just select green plums, mix them with base liquor, adjust the proportion of rock sugar, and then seal and store the jars. 

"Although the process is simple, it takes three months before we can enjoy our self-brewed plum wine. This waiting period is like brewing time itself, akin to the time spent nurturing relationships with my child. Participating in such activities is very meaningful," said a woman surnamed Li, a visitor who brought her child along for the experience.

Dongfang Bai, the manager of Jiangnan Rice Brewing Shop and initiator of the plum wine workshop, shared that China's alcohol culture is deeply intertwined with its interpersonal relationships. 

"In our workshop, many people come with their children, friends, or parents to brew a special cup of wine to give as a gift. It carries not just well wishes but also deep emotional bonds," he said.

With the support of commercial promotions, the workshop is planning to extend its reach into surrounding residential areas. It will also launch a series of brewing and tasting events themed on the 24 solar terms to not only spread traditional Chinese liquor culture but also help foster a harmonious, fun-filled community life within a 15-minute living circle.
