Currently, the sunflowers at Taopu Central Green Space have reached their prime viewing period, with over 20,000 sunflowers blooming, creating a sea of gold.

From an aerial view, the two flower beds, covering a total area of about 2,600 square meters, stand out vividly among the lush greenery. Unlike traditional flat planting, the sunflowers at Taopu Central Green Space take full advantage of the winding roads and varying terrain heights of the green space, creating a layered visual effect.

The variety of sunflowers chosen for Taopu Central Green Space is quite unique. Unlike traditional sunflowers, which bloom only once with a flowering period of about two weeks, the sunflowers here continue to bloom throughout the peak of summer, with a golden hue and up to a hundred blossoms per plant.

Xu Lei, the director of maintenance at Putuo District Park Development Company, said that this variety of sunflower is called "Endless Sunshine" and has excellent sun resistance. "The hotter the weather is, the better this variety blooms, making it a true sunflower!" he added.

Now, over 90 percent of the sunflowers in Taopu Central Green Space are in bloom, entering the best period for viewing. The overall flowering period is expected to last until late July.
