The 2024 Shanghai International Sister Cities Youth Camp, hosted by the Putuo District Education Bureau, took place from July 3 to 16.
Themed "Exchange, Cooperation, Friendship, Understanding," the camp tailored a two-week immersive experience for 89 campers from 17 cities across 16 countries.
To ensure a smooth opening of the summer camp, various related units conducted extensive preparatory work.
In May, 68 student volunteers were selected to participate in this summer camp. These volunteers come from various primary and secondary schools across the city, including Shanghai Foreign Language School Affiliated to SISU, Ganquan Foreign Languages Middle School, and Guangming High School, which are known for their foreign language education. Through online interactions with foreign campers and team leaders, the volunteers helped the campers gain a comprehensive understanding of the camp activities.
In terms of dining, after preliminary inquiries about the campers' preferences by the volunteers, the logistics team carefully considered the dietary habits and individual needs of campers from different countries, meticulously selecting ingredients and planning meals.
Regarding accommodation, to create a "home-like" atmosphere for the international campers, the first thing the volunteers did upon arriving at the campsite was to arrange the campers' rooms. They prepared and decorated the dormitory environment thoughtfully, aiming to provide the warmest and most considerate experience for the campers.
