The No.2 High School of East China Normal University was founded in 1958 and was designated as a key middle school directly under the Shanghai Education Bureau in 1963. In 1978, it was identified as the only key high school directly under the Ministry of Education in Shanghai and a member unit of the UNESCO "Asian Educational Innovation for Development Service Program Contact Center" (APEID). In 2002, the whole school was moved to Pudong Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park. In April 2020, East China Normal University and the Putuo Government signed a cooperation agreement to collaborate the Putuo Campus of The No.2 High School of East China Normal University (hereinafter referred to as “Putuo Campus”).
