‘I am the vanguard in building a people's city’: Putuo District youth celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China

On September 29, the "I am the Vanguard in Building a People's City" Putuo District youth celebration for the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China and the "Salute the National Flag" initiative launch ceremony was held at the No. 4 Middle School affiliated to East China Normal University. Attending the ceremony were Zhou Yan, deputy Party secretary of the district, Liu Dongchang, member of the Standing Committee and minister of Publicity, Wang Jue, deputy district director, Zhu Min, director of the Moral Education Department of the Municipal Education Commission, Zhou Yong, minister of the Youth Work Department of the Youth League Municipal Committee, Zhu Xiaolin, deputy minister of Publicity and director of the District Civilization Office, Hu Jun, secretary of the Party Committee for Education Work in the district, Lv Huan, secretary of the District Youth League Committee, Yang Liping, chairwoman of the District Women's Federation, and Wu Hong, deputy director of the Civilized Cultivation Office of the Municipal Civilization Office, among others.

The event began with the majestic national anthem. At the scene, the attending leaders jointly launched the Putuo District Youth "Salute the National Flag" activity and announced the "Children's Voices • Direct to Putuo" project.

In June of this year, Putuo District established the "Zhipu Bay" Children's Consultative Assembly, where children and adolescents enhanced their sense of social responsibility and mission through diverse consultative activities. In the future, Putuo will further expand channels for children's suggestions and work together to build the "Children's Voices • Direct to Putuo" feedback channel,creating a beautiful reality of child-friendly Putuo.

To help young people fasten the "first button" in life, the District Civilization Office actively deepens the practice of civilization in the new era, promoting the successful pairing of the East China Normal University New Era Lecture Group and the first batch of Shanghai "Great Ideological and Political Course" construction pilot areas (East China Normal University - Putuo District) for practical teaching bases. This has further strengthened the Putuo District Bilingual New Era Civilization Practice Volunteer Service Team and expanded its service scope. At the event, representatives from the practical teaching base presented the volunteer service team with a flag. In the future, the service team will join primary, middle, and high school students to carry out rich and diverse bilingual explanations, telling the story of the Party with heart and emotion, and conveying the voice of the Party.

Learn from pioneers in primary school and become pioneers when grown up. National advanced representatives and representatives of Shanghai's "Good Youth of the New Era" shared their role model stories on the path of growth with the theme "Striving to be a Good Role Model of the New Era." Putuo District youth practice their patriotic aspirations with practical actions and take responsibility with their youth for the modernization of China.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China. Students from the Changzheng Central Primary School embarked on a study tour titled "Walking on the New Long March Road." They listened to stories of the Long March, visited landmark attractions, and entered excellent enterprises. They narrated the connotation of the Long March spirit in the form of a scene play, calling on young people to take over the historical baton and be ready at all times to realize the great rejuvenation dream of the Chinese nation.

This summer, Putuo District carried out a series of "Quality Innovation in Putuo, Intelligence Creates Future" primary and secondary school students' "Labor+" practical experience activities. Students established correct values and outlooks on life through diversified labor practices. At the scene, students from the No.4 Middle School affiliated to the ECNU shared the results of their "Labor+Charity" volunteer service learning and called on all students to actively practice the concept of a people's city, learn responsibility in the social classroom, and convey the power of youth in volunteer charity.

"My motherland and I, can never be separated. No matter where I go, I leave a song of praise..." The event concluded with a grand chorus of "My Motherland and I," with everyone waving national flags and expressing good wishes through their singing.
