On the morning of September 9, 2022, the "I Am A Reliable Educator" themed event to celebrate the 38th Teacher's Day in Putuo District’s education system was held at the Putuo District Youth Education Activity Center. Before the event, a delegation led by CPC Putuo District Secretary Jiang Dongdong, CPC Putuo District Committee Deputy Secretary and District Governor Xiao Wengao, Putuo District People's Congress Standing Committee Chairman Tan Shangwei, Putuo District CPPCC Chairman Hang Chunfang, CPC Putuo District Secretary Zhou Yan and Putuo District Vice Governor Wang Yu visited representatives of outstanding teachers in the district and gave them season’s greetings. Leaders of the Putuo District Education Bureau, heads of the functional departments of the Bureau, cadres of all grassroots education units and outstanding teachers' representatives participated in the event. At the same time, the event was broadcast live to all grassroots education units in Putuo.
On behalf of the CPC committee, people's congress, government and CPPCC of Putuo District, Jiang Dongdong warmly congratulated the model collectives and individuals who were commended, and extended season’s greetings to all teachers and educators in the district. He said that in recent years Putuo has firmly focused on the goal of building the district into an education powerhouse, persisted in the prioritized and high-quality development of education, and handed over an impressive achievements sheet. Especially this year, education workers in the whole district quickly responded to the call of the CPC Putuo District Committee and the Putuo District Government, consciously participated in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, and made contributions to the victory of the great war to protect Shanghai against the pandemic. He stressed that teachers are the foundation of education construction and the source of education revitalization, and called on all teachers in the district to firmly keep in mind General Secretary Xi Jinping’s entrustment for them to become good teachers with ideals, good ethics, solid expertise and a caring heart, as well as their mission of educating people for the Party and the country, fully implement the Party's educational policy, be role models who stick to their original aspiration and are loyal to the Party, as well as serve as soul engineers, constantly cultivate socialist builders and successors with all-around development in morality, intelligence, physique, aesthetics and labor, so that every student can grow up healthily and have the opportunity to live a splendid life. The whole district needs to vigorously promote the advanced deeds of outstanding teachers and the good custom of respecting teachers and valuing education, so that teaching can truly become a sought-after profession. Party committees and governments at all levels in the district should care about teachers, create a better teaching environment and support system for teachers, and promote the high-quality development of education in Putuo through high-quality teachers.

The themed event kicked off amidst the original song "I Am A Reliable Educator". In the last school year, a number of model teacher collectives and individuals emerged in Putuo District, and the event commended teachers who were nominated for the Shanghai Municipal Award for Good Teachers with ideals, good ethics, solid expertise and a caring heart (role models in teaching and educating), who were promoted to the Municipal Senior Teacher title in 2022, who received the May 1st Labor Medal, the March 8th Red Flag Bearer title, the March 8th Red Flag Collectives title, the Women's Model for Meritorious Deeds title, the Women's Civilized Post title from Shanghai Municipality, as well as teachers who received similar district-level honors from Putuo. The commendations will spur education workers to truly take up their original mission of "educating people for the Party and the country".
Putuo has taken a solid step forward at the start of the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, accomplishing encouraging achievements in implementing the "double reduction" drive, the "mentor system for all", after-school services, good education for children and other popular projects, promoting the digital transformation of local education, comprehensively improving the quality of education and teaching. The district has also encouraged all its education workers to "greet the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, cultivate the root, cast the soul and foster new people" with a more proactive attitude and more outstanding achievements.

At the event site, the host conducted interviews on the theme of "practicing the spirit of education and being a reliable educator" with Huang Xiaofeng, Deputy Party Secretary and Principal of Shanghai Wenda School, Chen Guanfeng, Deputy Head of Shanghai Experimental Kindergarten, Lu Gaoyuan, Director of the Tibet Department of Jinyuan Senior High School, and Sun Min, leader of the Love Volunteer Service Team of Shanghai Jinzhou Primary School. As a publicity model for Shanghai's "New Journey Strivers" in 2022, Zhu Naimei, Party Secretary and Principal of Shanghai Xunyang Road Primary School, led representatives of new teachers to take the oath of admission.
At the event site, the "Future Education Stars of Putuo in the New Era" competition was also launched, which aims to build a growth ladder and showcasing platform for young teachers. “Outstanding young teachers" will be selected from the education system in Putuo, so as to lay a more solid talent foundation for the future development of education in the district.
