Shanghai Elite 10K Race preparations on in full swing

September 12, 2019 |

Preparations for the 2019 Shanghai International Elite 10k Race are now under way, officials said at a press conference held recently.

This year the run will kick off at 7:30am on October 20 in Putuo District, with 7,000 participants.

Among them 1,000 slots are for non-competing participants, half of which are open to public sign-up and the other half given to selected Putuo middle school students.

Those interested can sign up on the official website or its app and wait for the draw results later.

The top 300 male and female athletes respectively will gain automatic entry to the Shanghai International Half Marathon next year.

The first prize has been raised to US$5,000 from the US$3,000 last year to attract more outstanding athletes from around the world.

The run will promote the environment-friendly concept. Participants will be guided to classify the trash properly before disposal. All water bottles used will be recycled and made into raincoats or bags.

Exotic performances will be staged along the track to cheer the runners and the race will be aired live on TV and other mobile terminals.
