The Putuo Teenagers’ Center Chorus attended the summer camp of the 10th World Peace Choral Festival held in Vienna, Austria, and won a silver medal last month.
The chorus performed at the United Nations Office at Vienna, Vienna Singverein and the Golden Hall in Musikverein and also sang at the opening and closing ceremonies.
During the festival competition, their singing of “Peace” won accolades from the judges’ panel and they received a second-place prize at the United Nations Office.
Afterwards the students visited the training school for the Vienna Boys’ Choir and had exchanges with experts.
A charity fair was set up by the organizer, with the income to be donated to the UN International Children’s Emergency Fund.
The WPCF is one of the most important events of its kind and is supported by the UN, the International Federation for Choral Music and the Austrian government.
Over the years, choruses from China, Canada, the Czech Republic and other countries have been staged here.
