A garbage-sorting experience hall was unveiled in Zhenru Community in Putuo last week as part of Shanghai’s citywide campaign to implement the strictest rules on waste sorting since the first day of July.
The space showcases detailed categories of garbage sorting and ways to process different kinds of trash, like burning and degradation.
A mini garden displays what wet garbage can do. The kitchen waste, which is classified as wet garbage, is dissolved and fermented into brown organic fertilizer, with the help of microbial agents, which can be used to nourish plants.
Environment-protection events like lectures are available to promote the idea of green and low-carbon lifestyle.
Teenagers or younger children can get a hands-on experience like hand crafts and games to get a clearer idea of how to protect the environment.
