The Suzhou Creek Art and Culture Festival was wrapped up on October 11 with a cultural performance of the singing contest held in the stadium of East China Normal University.
The five-month contest, which was aimed at commemorating the 40th anniversary of the country's reform and opening-up in Putuo District, drew about 10,000 participants.
Party Secretary of CPC Putuo Committee Cao Liqiang, Director of Putuo District Zhou Minhao, Director of the Standing Committee of Putuo District People's Congress and other district leaders attended the activity.
The performance was divided into three parts: The first part looked back to great efforts made by Putuo District in the past 40 years of reform and opening-up; the second part was themed in the changes that have taken placed in Putuo during the past 40 years; and the third part looked forward to a better future of the district.
At the show, choruses from Caoyang Middle School, Zhenbei Middle School and Shanghai Student Arts Troupe of Putuo District Youth Center sang “Song and Smile” together.
Staff members from the maternal and child health hospital sang "Love My China" in collaboration with the choruses of the district’s Party and Labor Committee, the Construction Management Committee and the Greening and City Appearance Bureau.
"Pugongying" choruses and Ganquan Philharmonic Chorus jointly presented the song "The Story of Spring."
Choruses of the district-level departments including the public security bureau, court, procuratorate, tax bureau, the administration and law enforcement bureau and the quality control bureau dressed in uniforms and sang with vitality.
The choruses from the 9th Research Institute of CSIC, the SUAEE, the veteran cadres of Putuo District, the Putuo City Investment Corporation and the Western Putuo performed “Stay True to the Mission” to express love for the country.
