Suzhou Creek Industrial Civilization Museum in Putuo has recently been listed among Shanghai’s first batch of “red culture” tour routes featuring revolutionary relics.
The museum, located in Changfeng Biological Business Zone, was previously Shanghai’s First Eyeglasses Factory, which was later transformed and opened to the public in 2014 to showcase the industrial history along Suzhou Creek
It consists of two exhibition areas: the 800-squre-meter hall featuring rich cultural exhibits with some dating back to the beginning when Shanghai first opened to the outside world, and the outdoor area showcasing large industrial machines and sculptures.
Altogether four revolutionary culture routes are designated in the city covering 16 venues. They tell the story of how the Communist Party of China was born and developed in Shanghai.
