Putuo athlete Shao Yijun made a debut with his teammates Wang Sidong, Li Chunjian and Shi Hao in bobsleigh competition at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games, which concluded on Sunday.

Previously trained as a runner, Shao was selected and converted to the bobsleigh team, which was founded in 2015 after Beijing won the bid to hold the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

Chinese bobsleigh team had been actively engaged in preparing for the Winter Games. Over the past year, the team members had participated and won medals in many international competitions in North America and Europe.

“We were thrilled to enter the Winter Games,” Shao said.

“We were nervous to the point of panic before the competition, but we truly focused on the track during the race. I believe we will do better to manage our psychological status next time,” Shao added.

To compete with the top competitors in the world has been a rewarding experience for the Chinese bobsleigh players. They are expected to make steady progresses.
