Putuo students came out on top in the 2017 Teenager Water Saving Design Competition held in Beijing in early December.
More than 500,000 students from 11 provinces across the country participated in the competition, with students from 19 schools in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Foshan and Wuhan entering the final.
Students from the No. 2 Experimental School Affiliated to Shanghai Normal University, which is based in Putuo District, won the first place in the competition, followed by the team from Yichuan High School, which is also located in the district.
The competition was aimed to raise young people’s water-saving awareness and encourage them to make the best of water resources in innovative ways.
The event was jointly organized by the UNESCO China National Work Committee of Sustainable Development and Thirst Global Water Awareness, an NGO.
