A national engineering research center on embedded computer system was recently set up in Putuo District, Shanghai Science and Technology Commission said yesterday.
An embedded system is the key technology behind Internet of Things, smart homes and driverless vehicles, and such a system plays an important role in upgrading the manufacturing industry.
The research center is set to develop standards and regulations on embedded software to support high-technology industries in the Yangtze River Delta. It aims to enhance China's innovation capacity in embedded system to support the country's industrial upgrading.
Shanghai has set up a development plan to guide the technology's development, Gan Pin, deputy director of the city's science and technology commission, said today during the conference of Embedded China (Shanghai) 2017.
He added the center's establishment followed the setup of the national engineering research center on embedded software in the district.
