Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg visited Shanghai Meilong Middle School in Putuo on Saturday and watched the football training of its girls’ team. She kicked a ball as well on the field.

Sun Wen, the former captain of the women’s national football team and the 2001 FIFA World Player of the Year, accompanied the Norwegian leader as a special guest.

Solberg invited the Meilong Middle School girls’ team to play in an international tournament in Oslo this August.

“It is a huge honor to get invited by the prime minister. I have confidence in our performance in the tournament,” said Zhou Jiayi, a team member.

Putuo is strong in football sports and education. Meilong alone has produced more than 60 talented players for the national women’s football team.
