Zhang Li, a young Japanese teacher from Ganquan Foreign Language Middle School, participated in the second teaching plan design competition of secondary Japanese education, jointly sponsored by the Japan Foundation of Beijing Center for Japanese Studies and People's Education Press, and won first prize on behalf of the school. It is the second time that a teacher from Ganquan has won the prize after the school’s Japanese Language teacher Wang Dan won the best prize in the first competition.
The theme of the teaching plan design was “Change in Shanghai.” Zhang is a PhD of literature cultivated by a joint program of Tokyo University and Shanghai International Studies University. Since entering the school in 2018, Zhang has won the honorary titles of “Good teacher in my mind” and “Teaching stars”, the second prize of the national high-quality class competition for Japanese language, several times. Zhang has also guided students to win the second prize at the national middle school students’ speech contest, and participated in the compilation of educational books for the “College Entrance Examination Japanese Vocabulary”, and “College Entrance Examination Japanese Language Model Test”, while publishing articles on “secondary Japanese language education” in journals.
As a “professional school of Japanese language teaching, multilingual development and cross-culture quality cultivation”, Ganquan Foreign Language Middle School started Japanese teaching in 1972. The Japanese teaching and research group of the school has won the titles from the “Shanghai Communist Youth League”, the “Shanghai Women’s Civilization Post”, Putuo District’s “March 8th Red Banner Group”, the “New Long March Commando”, the “Communist Youth League” and the “Women’s Civilization Post.” At present, the Japanese teaching and research group of the school consists of 20 domestic and three Japanese teachers, of which three hold doctorates and six are senior teachers. The school will encourage Japanese language teachers to participate in professional appraisal and build a demonstration platform for Japanese language teaching so as to promote the school brand.
